What is IPPT?
The Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT) is a mandatory annual fitness assessment for all Singapore Armed Forces National Servicemen and Operationally Ready National Servicemen (ORNS).

IPPT ensures that all NS men maintain a baseline level of physical fitness required for operational readiness. It measures muscular endurance, core strength, and cardiovascular fitness through three standardized stations.

⏰ Frequency
ORNS men must pass IPPT once per training cycle, typically annually. The IPPT window opens at the start of each NS training year. Passing early exempts NSmen from Remedial Training (RT) sessions.
How IPPT Scoring Works
IPPT uses a points-based system where your performance in each station contributes to a maximum total score of 100 points.
📊 Point Distribution
Each of the three stations contributes points based on your performance:
- Push-ups: Up to 25 points
- Sit-ups: Up to 25 points
- 2.4km Run: Up to 50 points (weighted more heavily)
The scoring tables are adjusted by age group and gender, with more lenient requirements for older age groups to account for natural physiological changes.
🎖️ IPPT Scoring Factors
Age Group: Scoring is divided into 9 age brackets (18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60+). Each bracket has different minimum requirements.
Gender: Male and female servicemembers have separate scoring standards tailored to physiological differences.
Vocation: Combat vocations like Commandos, Guards, and Naval Divers face higher standards with more stringent requirements for each station.

IPPT Awards & Incentives
The Singapore Armed Forces rewards NSmen who maintain excellent physical fitness with monetary incentives.
🥇 Gold (75-100 points)
$500
Achieving IPPT Gold demonstrates exceptional physical fitness. NSmen who score 75 points or higher receive a $500 monetary incentive, the highest award tier.
🥈 Silver (61-74 points)
$300
Silver award recognizes very good fitness levels. NSmen scoring between 61-74 points receive a $300 monetary incentive for their achievement.
✅ Pass (51-60 points)
$0
Pass status meets the minimum fitness requirements. While no monetary incentive is awarded, passing IPPT exempts NSmen from mandatory Remedial Training (RT).
❌ Fail (0-50 points)
RT Required
NSmen who score below 51 points must attend Remedial Training (RT) sessions to improve fitness and reattempt IPPT. RT consists of structured fitness programs.
